Michael's Story
Life
I've lived in Las Vegas since 1994. I am currently working on a screenplay that I hope to have finished by the end of 2005. My long-range writing project remains a 20-book science-fiction novel series. I'm looking forward to actually putting down on paper over 25 years worth of crazy ideas...wish me the best!
School
I never really had a good time in school so my memories aren't something I like to dwell on. I do look back though when I see the state of education today and in that light count myself lucky to have had so many good teachers.
I remember Mrs. Stanton at Lemmon Valley Elementary School, Mrs. Mallory and Mr. Lundemo at O'brien Middle School, Sgt. Mjr. Klinger at Hug High, Mrs. Lindstrom and Mrs. Crawford at Manogue as those that stand out the most.
Having said that, the entirety of my school experience has led me to be a staunch supporter of home-schooling. Education Theory is a passing interest of mine and my running favorite for systems is Maria Montessori's system. For any parents out there, I highly recomm...Expand for more
end looking into her system for your own children. Cognitive development is one of the most important areas of a child's growth and it is all but totally ignored in the current school environment. Montessori's system focuses on it and to my experience is the only one that does.
Workplace
After high school, I went right into grocery / retail and took a long time discovering that it wasn't for me.
I started bagging groceries at Warehouse Market in Lemmon Valley, then clerked at Raleys in Golden Valley, then Albertsons and Smith's in Sparks. I ended up not really caring for the constant barrage of people that I had to deal with, unless I knew the person, then it was okay.
I moved from job to job for almost 10 years, totalling over 60 positions (including temporary assignments). I finally found the kind of work and environment I was looking for and have stuck with the company for going on 7 years: MACtac in Las Vegas. That facility sadly has closed. I'm working here and there for now while I look for a better job. Wish me luck.
