Michelle's Story
Life
The last 18 years. Brief Synopsis! Sorry if I left a few details out!
After high school, I went to Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa for two years. Loved my time there. General Studies. Cheered for OCC...Go Bucks! Had too much fun at OCC. Taught dance for my sister's studio in Rancho Santa Margarita and worked for my mom at the dancewear store. Decided I needed to get away from California and try something new. ( You will see a pattern!)
Went to Arizona State University in 1990. Majored in Broadcast Journalism. Produced and anchored the sports for ASU's cable show, Southwinds. God I was horrible! Cheered for ASU. Rah! Go Devils! Danced for the Phoenix Suns in 92-93 season. Yes, we went to the NBA finals. What a trip! That was one of the best years of my life! Nothing like being in front of 20K screaming fans. Still taught dance in Arizona. Interned in Sports dept at KTTK. Loved it, but realized news was not for me.
SO....Opened Hanson Dance Centre in 1994 in Gilbert, AZ with my sister. (Phoenix). 1997 was not a good year for me, but I did meet a man and got engaged the next year. An it was time for change...so, I moved to Tennessee to be with him.
What a BIG change. I was not ready to get married so called off the engagement. But stayed in Knoxville because I did enjoy my time there. Got a great job working for the CBS affiliate in station management, as Program Director. I lived in Knoxville, TN for five years. TN taught me a lot about what is important in life.
And that brings us to the next jump in this journey ...Expand for more
of mine. One weekend while sitting around with my best friend... He asked me what I was still doing in TN? What was keeping me here? Nothing really, I said. Then the question...If you could do anything in the whole wide world...what would you do? Easy...I have always wanted to make movies. I use to love to watch the weekend black & whites on KTLA and anything with Gene Kelly! He said...If anyone could do it was me. So, I took the next day to do a bit of research. Went into work on Monday and quit!!! Sold the house, moved back to Southern California five weeks later. I moved to LA, no place to live, no job. Just winged it.
July 2003-I landed at a Production company doing assistant work at first, while getting into the UCLA Producing Program. After school, I produced 3 Short films.... The Arsonist, Getaway Ben, & Running In Tall Grasses. Loved every minute of it. This is what I was meant to do. I got the opportunity 10 months later to produce television at the company and jumped at it. I've been producing ever since. Now I have over 600 TV shows to my credit and just started a film production company with my producing partner Kevin.
I am still single, no kids, one spoiled dog (Patty) and still act like a kid. Mom passed away in 1997, Dad is remarried, and my brother & sister are both married, successful and living in So Cal.
I'd love to hear from you all...so please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope your life has been as exciting as mine. And more to come!
Goal: Live with a man named Oscar!
