Michelle's Story
Life
Well, I'm married to a wonderful, godly man who is in the Air Force. He is a Recruiter for the Air Force Reserves. We have moved more times than we've been married (12 years). We've been all over, from Texas, Nebraska, Miami, New Orleans, Ohio, Denver and now to Georgia. We have 4 daughters between us, 2 step daughters! I'm a stay at home mom (which I love) and I homeschool our girls. Since, Mike is outnumbered by females, he has a male dog to keep him company. We are currently stationed in Warner Robins, GA. Mike has 3 years until retirement, and if all works to God's plan, we will be heading back to Ferndale to be close to family again and for Mike to run Dad's John Deere Dealership. We are definitely tired of moving and are looking forward to settling down PERMANENTLY, but I wouldn't trade anything about my life. I'm very content with what I've done and who I am.
School
Looking back, now some 20 years after graduation, I sure do have a different perspective on school. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I had the best of everything: a boyfriend - my high school sweetheart, a great best friend, a job (yeah - paid for...Expand for more
the gas in my car), supportive parents and the whole world in front of me. Without my experiences throughout my school years, I wouldn't be who I am today and I wouldn't have done the things I've done. If there is one thing I've learned it's that no matter how well you do in high school; it is no indication of how successful you'll be in life. I may not have gone on to be a "successful" business woman like most expected me to, but I know I'm successful and I love my life the way it is. How many people can say that about their life???
College
I can say that I finally finished my degree back in 2001 in Miami, Florida. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Accounting. It only took 10 years I think to finish! I had big plans to go on and complete my Master's program at the University of New Orleans, but God had bigger plans for me. I never did finish my Masters, but instead decided that being a stay-at-home mom was more important to my kids' future than my desire to be a big money making accountant! Completing a college degree with children under foot and being married, was very challenging and I tip my hat to anyone who is currently doing that!
