mike's Story
Mike Dunne was an award winning weekend anchor at WTVC-TV for 17 of his 19 year tenure. Dunne’s broadcast career begin in 1982 upon graduation from Emerson College.
The broadcast journalist's first television job began in in 1982 at North Carolina's WNCT-TV as the weekend anchor. Four months later, he was hired away by his competitor WCTI-TV where he soon became the weekend anchor and was the station’s first morning weekday anchor. Dunne’s tenure in Chattanooga began in 1987 as a weekday reporter and rose to weekend anchor in April of 1989, the 20 time Boston Marathon runner was also promoted to weekend news manager.
Upon leaving WTVC-TV, Dunne went to work for Hamilton County Government as Communications Manager for County Mayor’s Claude Ramsey and Jim Coppinger.
Mike served in that position for 16 and a half years until his retirement on September 6, 2022.
Mike married his former WTVC-TV Weekend Meteorologist Amy Katcher in 2007.
