Mike's Story

Life Life Bio... hmmm! -Was encouraged to leave school (or be thrown out) by Mr McPhee early in junior year, 1984. -Attended O.W.E school off Hoyt and 20th for year, before being pushed out of that school to attend to drug and alcohol rehabilition in November of 1985... -Tested for G.E.D. before the rest of my class graduated, and scored 353... -Started working full time in Pizza business for TJ's Pizza in March of 1986. TJ's went out of business, and I spent some years with Pizza Hut as well as trying to manage and do sound and booking for some local bands. Fed up with Pizza Hut, and working on a degree at MSCD, I wound up at Blackjack Pizza... Long story short, a partner and I bought in to some stores, and I am now part owner of two Blackjack Pizza franchises in the lakewood and littleton areas, as well as the building one of our stores is located in... -I am very single... never married, no kids... -I have not kicked my drinking habit, although I have completely kicked the drugs. -I have written (and had published) small amounts of poetry, but my current life consists mostly of working and taking care of my stores... -When I get out, it's usually to bowl or golf or drink or gamble... I love to jet to vegas too much, and have caused myself no small amount of consternation with the kind of money I lose... -I still live in the lakewood area and am very in touch with my siblings and parents... As to what I want out of life at this point - I don't know! -Part of me desperately wants to find the right girl to settle down with and have a couple of kids. -Part of me wants to start writing again, and pen the "Great American Novel" of our time. -Part of me wants to meet some girls and have good times. -Part of me wants to meet the right girl, and have a good stable 30 years with no kids. -I am still the "nice guy" that you all probably remember. -Unfortunately, I've found that that means that I...Expand for more
'm friendly to all, but friends with very few... I have lots and lots of "friends," but in my book, truly only two FRIENDS after all these years, and sometimes that's a lonely and painful place to be... I'll close with a few of my favorite poems: matchbook A matchbook cover, equipped with phone number, but faded beyond recognition, lies on my dresser, I can’t read it, but I know whose it was, so I keep it. contentment He was listening to his favorite album, but then his heart stopped beating, he didn’t mind, the album was over. lonely again As the child watches from the sidelines, feeling lost and alone, as the other children play their games, so am I; why I don't understand, comprehend, or otherwise seem to fit in the scheme of things, is the subject of many a night's lost sleep; or sometimes with the sleep comes no solace in dreams, because they're absent or unremembered upon awakening, and I'm again left to face the reality of my solitary existence; most difficult is this time of year, as the colored leaves waft to the ground, blowing and blustering, beckoning the chill wind, and the lovers who would brave the chill to walk together; this is the hard time; this is when a man and a woman need each other most, to cuddle and storytell and lovemake, resisting the cold in the most animal and yet most precious of ways, giving of each others warmth and strength to last the season, huddled against the cold, huddled against the darkness. the pebble He walked along the cold asphalt, barefoot, plodding slowly along, “ouch,” he said as he stepped on a pebble, and then he walked on, limping a little. three a.m. I wanted to go for a drive, but there was nowhere to go, and no gas to get there, so I laid awake in bed, until about three. 52 County road 52, shoots off into the distance, not quite one lane, all gravel, but beautiful.
