Mike Halloran:  

Life: Hi, All, My name is Mike Halloran. I was a tall (6'4"), skinny kid who ran track, played the guitar and did well in school. I am no longer that skinny and I don't run anymore. I first moved to Rancho Cordova in 1959. Went to Cordova Gardens and Cordova Lane for Kindergarten & First grade and went to St. John Vianney from 2nd - 8th grade where I ran track. 9th grade (68-69) was spent at Mills. At Mills, I explored my interests in music, singing in the choir, playing guitar and bass in a band with Jeff Heller ('74), the late Dave Helland ('72) and Bob Bentrup ('74). During summer school, I started playing the string bass, an instrument that I played professionally for the next 40 years. I sang in the choir and played in the jazz band but moved from Cordova before graduation. From Cordova, I went to live in San Jose, CA, attended Willow Glen High School and have made my home in the South Bay ever since. I studied music and drama at WGHS and am still in contact with many friends from those days. I also played in the San Jose Youth Symphony. Through the 70s and 80s, I played music professionally, occasionally getting a "real job" as I needed one. In the 80s - 90s, I toured with the folk band, Shanachie mostly in Europe. Since 1979, I have lived with my wife, Sylvia, a piano major whom I met at San Jose State U. ...Expand for more
