Mike's Story
Life
Hi folks,
Since school I worked for the Alta Gov. where I met my wife of 34 years now. I went into the mapping field where I have toiled for 30+ years and now run my own business. Retirement will probably never come but I keep my fingers crossed. Some of you may remember I had a short stint with Lexa Bishop which produced my son Bryan, Since then I have re-married (Mary) and its been 37 years now. We have 2 daughters Christine & Jayne and they have 3 & 2 children respectively. Life as a Grandparent is a busy one, never knowing who's coming over next but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Played in a band for 10 years and did lounges and weddings, who new those music classes would pay off! I just learned my music teacher at QE has passed, she was a blast even if we did torment her at times.
IRONIC: My wife has worked with Gerry Myktyshin (spelling?) who married Ula Myrstic (French teacher). Some of you may remember that memorable moment when Miss Myrstic showed us her holiday pictures, including the infamous...Expand for more
bikini shot.
My work has taken me to Ukraine and India on projects involving mapping or surveying. My stays lasted 3-4 months and I had an eye opening as to how lucky we are to live in this country. I'm hard pressed to complain about anything here in "The best place to live in the world".
I hope at the time of reading this you are in good health and looking forward to retirement of some kind.
Update 2021
Well lots has happened since my last update. I have been retired for about 10 years, although I did work from home with my own mapping business. One more grandchild made an entrance and she is now 11. Man, how the years fly by. 2018 was met with a Cancer diagnosis and produced a stem cell transplant. Things went well but I'll live with the possibility that it might return. In the mean time life goes on and if we can get rid of this Covid thing, we might be able to travel again. The big hope is for a family vacation in 2024 to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Drop me a line if you can and let me hear your story.
