Mike's Story
Mike and Joyce (Bleak) Murray live in the Seattle area. He is a philanthropist and adviser to non-profits and start-ups.
From July 2007 - July 2010 Mike served as a full-time mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Philadelphia, PA.
In 2000 Mike co-founded Unitus (unitus dot com), an award winning international poverty fighting organization. He served as Chairman of Unitus until his mission assignment. With 22 partnerships in Kenya, India, Argentina, the Philippines, Indonesia and Mexico, Unitus helped over 13 million very poor families gain economic & social empowerment. Unitus provided investment capital (grants, debt and equity) and consulting services to greatly accelerate the reach of microcredit lending programs in the developing world.

Mike spent 20 years as an executive in the personal computer industry. In the early 80s he led the introduction and marketing activities for Apple Computer's Macintosh product line. In the mid-80's he was president of a computer systems company in Connecticut. He was hired by Microsoft in 1989 to run the company's networking software business. He later became Microsoft's first Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, a position he held until his departure in 1999.
Mike holds an engineering degree and an MBA, both from Stanford University. He has been a member of the New York-based Global Philanthropists Circle and the Clinton Global Initiative.
Mike's hobbies include raising cattle, golfing, fly fishing, listening to music and playing with his family. Mike and Joyce got married when they were 20. They have been married for 35 years and have four grown children (all married) and nine grandchildren. He is still short, but not bald.
