Mike's Story
I'm about to retire from the US Army after 23 years of active duty and 5 years with the MS National Guard. I will probably retire in North Alabama. I'm retiring as a First Sergeant. I have been to Afghanistan for 3 years, including initial push. I served in Iraq for the initial invasion and flew in Mosul. I served a year in South Korea as well. I mainly served as a CH-47 (Chinook) mechanic and Crew Chief, but also flew in the UH-1 Huey and CH-54 Skycrane. I had tons of fun but my old ass has to go and leave it to the youngins. Sherry. I'm a Grandad 3 times over with a 10 yr old Grand son, 6 and 4 yr old Grand daughters. I'm known as "PaPaw".
I loved my time at JDA and miss all of yall terribly. I miss the 1982 JDA Championship baseball team with our astounding record of 36-1. It was fun beating the hell out of everybody. I still visit Meridian every once in a while because my Sister, Marty still lives there. The only 1984 member I have seen since High School was Kristi Miller. If I had to do it over I wouldn't have changed a thing...hmmm...well maybe one thing.
