Mike's Story
Life
Now working at Exel Logistics for Sun Microsystems for 9+ years. Prior to that, I was at Tandem Computers for 9 years and AMD for 3 years.
Got married in Sept of '85 to Kim Michelsen (Buchser HS Class of '80).
Have 2 kids; Mandy, now 19, graduated from Prospect in 2006. She played on the Girls Varsity Softball Team since she was a freshman for Mr. Melvin (yes, that Mr. Melvin!). I actually helped coach the 2005 thru 2007 seasons, of which we took 1st Place with a 21-0 division record in '05. Mandy's now going to DeAnza College and is playing Softball there, as well. Sean turns 16 in Dec and is in his Sophomore year at Prospect. He's already taken Driver's Ed and has his Learner's Permit June 2 and made the Principal's Honor Roll his first semester at Prospect.
Both kids came up thru the Little League ranks (Sean is still playing at the Juniors level). I retired from coaching Little League last year, as I've done that for the last 11 years (Tri-Cities L.L.) and went with coaching softball at Prospect...Expand for more
for a change of pace of sorts. I did help out with Sean's team after the season was over at Prospect, though. I started my Little League coaching career right out of high school for 6 years (Moreland L.L.), then got back in when the kids were close to playing.
The picture of me is with my daughter Mandy after our last regular season game (2005) at Prospect. Coach Melvin took the picture.
My parents moved from San Jose to Pacific Grove around 2001. My Dad got involved with working the AT&T Pro-Am. I joined the team in 2005 and it was a blast (intermitent bad weather excluded!), getting to interface with the pros and celebs. If you're around any future AT&T Pro-Am's, look for me around the Pebble Beach Driving Ranges (at least when I working)!
As we head into 2008, I'll also be taking over the Girls Varsity Softball Team at Prospect. Hopefully it will be a successful season! Hey, if it is, maybe I'll make the 30 Year Reunion and have pics of the team and school. It's changed a bit since "our time" there!
