Mimi's Story
Every five years I pay for Classmates - most recent update at the bottom - Ciao!
Welcome Back Kotter, er Konoza (added 2018):
- I went to Poe Intermediate School (now Poe Middle School) and then went back 35 years later as a Substitute Teacher
- I graduated from Annandale High School and then went back 30 years later as a Substitute Teacher
- I attended the Fairfax County Fire Academy as a volunteer and then went back years later as a paid Adjunct Instructor
- I attended Fire Recruit School in Prince William County and then went back as an Adjunct Instructor at the Public Safety Academy
- I graduated from Northern Virginia Community College's EMS degree program and then went back years later as Adjunct Faculty
- I attended Recruit School in Arlington County and then went back as a Training Officer at the Fire Academy
- I graduated from The George Washington University Emergency Health Sciences program and then went back as Adjunct Faculty
- Nurse Coordinator with Federal Occupational Health for four years and spent my last two years as a Designated Trainer with preceptor pay
Life & Work (oldest to newest):
Grade school - International School of Bangkok then Holy Spirit School; Junior High at Poe; High School - Track Team - indoor & outdoor then worked at Fish & Chips
After high school - one year at GMU majoring in "party", er Biology and working as Small Parts Manager at JCPenney Auto then a few years as Shoe Department Assistant Manger at Fairfax Memco and then Manager at Reston Memco - finally deciding to go to NVCC to become a Paramedic
1982-1988 - Prince William County Fire & Rescue as Technician I & II - heroism award/commendation of valor - first marriage and one kid (Anthony)
1988-2005 - Arlington County (VA) Fire Department - FF/EMT III (Training Officer, Acting Lieutenant and Captain) valor award - multiple commendations & merit awards - second marriage and two kids (Corinne & Grant) - BS degree from GW in Health Science Management - teaching gigs at GW, NVCC, Fairfax County Fi...Expand for more
re Academy, also part-time Flight Medic for Care Flight out of Manassas (was working 4 jobs at one point to payoff debt)
2001-2005 - Pentagon 9/11 Forward Area Triage Officer ✠ Line-of-Duty Act (LODA) Retired FF/Medic (crushed both hips) - third marriage, no kids
2005-2009 - worked as Certified Personal Trainer sharing my rehab skills and putting off neck and back surgeries through chiropractic, acupuncture, and therapeutic massage until 2009 (left arm went completely numb) - began transitioning from Mike to Mimi (taking hormones) - met my current Life Partner, Doris - our kids - one dog & two to three cats
2010-2014 - Babe transferred to Norfolk and back - RN school at TCC and then back to NVCC - worked as Camp Nurse briefly in Texas - facial feminization and gender reassignment surgeries
2015-2018 - Contract as Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator for Arlington County (VA) - grad school at GW - another neck surgery (right arm went numb) - kids graduating from college, buying houses, getting married, and first grandkid in 2017
2017-2018 - mostly recovered from car crash and traumatic brain injury (TBI) with post-concussion syndrome - was having cognitive and vision impairment - grad school on hold. Still having memory issues; however, I do remember high school
What I did after my layoff for inability to meet my deliverables, became a stunt actor (extra), for Wonder Woman 1984, and won a SAG award - crazy huh? Then some part-time home health nursing, while trying to get back in the full-time job game
2019 - 2023 - Nurse Coordinator at Federal Occupational Health one block from one of our filming locations for WW84 - occasionally responding to emergencies, but I don't hesitate to call 9-1-1 - paramedics have tools I don't have - I should know (officially retired April 28)
Now have 4 grands - 2 boys and 2 girls; retired from full-time nursing to concentrate on my health - nothing major right now, but want to keep it that way
