Mindy's Story
Life
After high school, I went to college at LSU for 3 years and was in the LSU Tiger Band Color Guard (flag team) which was an awesome experience. I left LSU after 3 years, with only 1 1/2 years to go. I could kick myself for that now and that's my one big regret in life - not finishing college. But at 20, I got a job as a receptionist in a 2-attorney law firm across the street from the N.O. Convention Center. After a year there, I went on to a much larger firm inn N.O. where I received most of my legal assistant training. I was single, in my 20's and loving life. I started doing musical theater locally in Gretna, Metairie, and the French Quarter; dancing, singing, acting and even choreographing some of the shows I was in. I loved it!! That was my dream except it was happening in N.O. and not on Broadway in New York. I did that full time (5 shows a week, and rehearsing for the next show) for 6 years while working full-time (40 hours a week) as well. I can only saying being in my 20's allowed me to keep that kind of schedule.
At 27, I married my ex-husband and we moved to Houston (it lasted 16 months & I will not bore you with the facts of this short story).
After moving to Houston, I worked at a small law firm near the Galleria then found a job with my current employer, Fulbright & Jaworski, the largest law firm in Hou...Expand for more
ston. I was a legal assistant for at total of 16 years, then this past fall was given the opportunity to move to the training department to train people for the job I had been doing for 16 years. I started the new position in January and really love it.
Five years ago this April, I married the man I was meant to be with. It just took some time, moving across state lines, and a divorce to finally find him, but he was worth the wait. We now have a beautiful 3-year old daughter named Natalie Marie. Her picture is on my profile. She is my world and is the smartest and most loving little girl in the world. I can't even imagine my life before she came along. She is the greatest thing I've done so far in life. My husband Alan is a wonderful, loving, supportive husband and we hope to add one more little one to the family in the very near future.
We have 2 Chihuahua's, Peanut & Cricket, live in Deer Park, Texas (20 miles SE of downtown Houston), and I love my life!!
I don't think I've changed much since high school, except maybe I'm more relaxed, I think I have more patience (kids will do that to you) and I'm not as hyper. I still talk a lot and anyone who knows me knows that has not changed.:) I'd like to think I'm a little wiser (20 years wiser). Yikes! I can't believe I'm about to have my 20-year high school reunion.
