Mitchell (Ray)'s Story
Well, it's been busy and exciting since High School.
Started by joining the Navy, training in and working in Nuclear Power, Radar, Communications and Equipment Calibration.
After I left the Navy, I worked at Edwards Air Force Base, working on a test support facility for the B2 Bomber.
I went on to move to Boise, ID, where I worked for Micron Semiconductor, maintaining/repairing and redesigning micro robotics used for assembly of memory chips.
My brother Mike decided it was time to start his own business and he brought me into Irwin Consulting, where I acted as a computer consultant and analyst until I left to work for the Idaho Secretary of State's office.
In the Secretary of State's office, I worked on a project eliminating a mini mainframe computer and moving all of the information over to a Windows NT network. Once the project was finished, I decided it was time to look at traveling again, and revived the Irwin Consulting - Boise Branch, and contracted for a company designing and installing internet services in the Hospitality Industry in the United States.
I moved on to a roll out of Self Check Terminals in K-Marts across the country.
I then got an opportunity to...Expand for more
take network design to another level and went to work for Core Communications, (which has since been purchased by Swisscom Hospitality Services), where I design, install and support both permanent and temporary internet infrastructure systems. So far this job has allowed me to travel to virtually every major city in the US, plus locations in Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Austrailia, New Zealand, Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy, and Canada.
Most of my time off is spent in rebuilding my new house, or riding my motorcycle.
2012 -
Still working on the house, this is the year to replace the roof, plant the orchard (okay so 25 trees isn't much of an orchard, still, it's a start.
Still traveling, still designing and installing internet services for the Hospitality Industry. Recent travels have been primarily in the United States, to Hawaii, Charleston, San Francisco, New York, DC, Florida. No international travel since Cancun of last year. Still getting lots of miles on the motorcycle, and lots of time underwater (when I manage to go somewhere warm.)
Just getting back into woodworking in a major way, starting to build the cabinets and counters for the House & Garage.
