Mona's Story
Life
I moved to Georgia in 1989. Lived there for 6 years and in 1995 I moved across the line to Tennessee. I have lived here in Tennessee since then. I enjoy the mountains here and the scenery. I lived near the Ocoee River where they hold a lot of the Kayaking tournaments. I have three beautiful girls and they are the loves of my life. They are now 12, 10 and 8. I have been working to get my associates but I focus all my time right now to being there for my girls. I stay very busy with them. I was in a bad car wreck in May of 2006 and that has slowed me way down for the past year. I was very active, walking, running and working out. I hope to build my strength up again. I really have fell out of touch with everyone from Benson except for my brothers friends. Everyone I graduated with I definately fell out of touch. Nissa emailed me and has kept me up to date with the things going on back home. My mom and dad have passed away and they usually kept me up to date with things going on in Benson. o rekindle old friendships, I sure do miss home. My husband was injured in Iraq in 2005 and since his return I have devoted my time to helping him. He has undergone two surgeries, one having a titanium plate put in his neck and the other consisting of having all his nasal cavity being scraped and his septum corrected. He has gone downhill every since so every day is unpredictable. We have had our ups and downs like every marriage but I have found that if you let go of the little nit picky things you can focus on the bigger picture. You find out just how strong you both are. We have been married since December 1989. I definately want to get my degree in teaching. I love working with kids. I have taught choir at a small church here in Tennessee. I still love music and it's a big part of my life. What I had planned out for my life when I was young didn't happen but something even better happened, I became a mom. There is still so much I want to do and see, one of them being getting to see my old friends again!
