Mona's Story
Life
I live near Creedmoor, NC with my husband, Roy Jenkins (Bragtown Class of '55). My first husband, Claude Pendergrass, died in 1985, shortly after we moved back to Durham from the Atlanta area, where we lived for 13 years. We had 3 children. My oldest son and my daughter live in Georgia with their families and my youngest son, Tim, and his family live a few miles from Roy & me. I have 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. e the school was destroyed by fire. It was the first time we had seen each other since graduation! We married the following February. We are both retired. Roy retired from the NC DOT as a Highway Inspector and I retired from a career as a law firm administrator and law school administrator. Yes, Roy still plays the Banjo! He also plays drums and harmonica. What a talented man! We are both involved in gospel music--I sing some and play keyboard.
