Active Duty in the Air Force as an accountant. My first base I was stationed at Eilson AFB, Alaska near Fairbanks, were I met my current husband of 25+ years. He has a son, Jason, who is 6 mos. older than my son, Daniel. After a few months of marriage, he was sent to Korea for a year where I had a chance to visit him for a week. From Alaska, we both were assigned together at Moody AFB located a few miles north of Valdosta, GA in Jan 1988. We both decided to begin working on our college degrees. May of 1993, Craig transfered to Rhein-Mein, Germany and I was fighting RSD since August of 1992 on medical hold. My son, Dan, left August 1993 for Germany to start school. I was medically discarded from the Air Force in Oct 1993 and joined my family in Germany. I began working Civil Service as a Temp GS-5. The base was in down-size mode with most operations being moved to Ramstein AB. We moved again Jan 1994 to Ramstein AB were I continued to work civil service but now had a permanent position as a GS-5 at the Regional Center. A position opened for a GS-6, and I got that, so I was moving up in the world a little bit a time. Craig and I continued to attend college at the University of Maryland, European Overseas Divisions. son. Jason, would come over to visit us all the way from Texas were he lived with his Mom and step-father. While we worked, went to school, and raised our kids, we managed to enjoy the culture around us as much as possible. We attended wine fests, visited Paris, Amsterdam, Interlaken in Switzerland, the French Riviera(Nice) hotel on the beach, office Christmas party on a river boat on the Rhine, dinners in restored castles, walked through Versailles, been to the Louve, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower on our 10th wedding Anniversary (how romantic), went to Mont Montre, and soooo much more. Our landlords didn't speak English at all and we had learned just a small bit of German. Charads began a popular communcation technique. The neighbors' boy was the same age as Dan and he spoke English very well. He helped us out often and taught us a lotz. He became like a son to me. Craig and I received our college degrees at the same time, June 1999. Shortly after that, we were reassigned to Dover AFB, Delaware. After arriving in Dover, I was able to get a job permanent GS-11 as the Non-Appropriated Funds Financial Analysts (NAFFA) in 2001. I had to leave my job in 2006 due to health issues and have been unable to return to work. I really miss my job. My husband retired after 26 years Active duty in the Air Force in 2001. He now works for Wal-Mart in the transportation division. He works 12 hour shifts Sat-Sun-Mon. This gives him time and money to do what he loves- play golf and spend time with family and friends. I go to Florida a couple times a year to visit my Mother and Sister and her family. Craig and I own a house on Moores Lake that has a beautiful view. Dover doesn't get a lot of snow but we do enjoy the four seasonal changes.".
