Nancy's Story

Life I'm still a teacher of young children at IUSB's Child Development Center for the past 10 years. Taught Head Start five years prior after earning my degree from IUSB in 1993, B.S. in Elem. Educ. with a Kindergarten Endorsenment. Have since been certified in the HighScope Preschool Educational Approach. I have two grandchildren-- Kayla Jasmine,9, daughter of Sara Jasmine Walker Mathews, 28, and Carly Rose, 7, daughter of Erika Lynne Powalski, 34. I attend Albright United Methodist church in Mishawaka where I have been playing keyboard in a praise and worship band called After the Fire for nearly 3 years. Am enjoying meeting up with old friends and acquaintances, though I don't have much free time with teaching and becoming a grandmother of two and recently buying a home. . I enjoy all kinds of music. Other favorite pianists--Graham Nash, Elton John, and Jackson Brown. I get to see and hear Crosby, Stills and Nash here in August and July 4th -Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp. I still enjoy listening to the old tunes of the 60's and 70's, blues, and more recent Christian music. This is my 10th summer leading a group of 6,7,8,and 9 yearolds around the area on field trips-IUSB Summer Camp! We're out and about most of the time. My summer not only rocks,--it flys by way too fast! My daughter Sara and her husband, Chad, and Kayla live with me in our home of about 6 years now. Erika is a nurse in Elkhart and lives near us in Mishawaka. Rick lives in Naples, Florida! He likes it there better than here in northern Indiana... Hello to all who read this!
