Life After I finished school in 1965, I went to OR Tech School at NCMH in Chapel Hill and Nursing School at Watts Hospital in Durham. Upon graduating from Nursing School, I embarked on a long, exciting career in the Operating Room. I have worked in all positons in the Operating Room in many different types of hospitals from New Mexico to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. I have been living in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates since 2000. I would like to continue living and working here until I retire in a few years. I came to Abu Dhabi in 2000 to work in the Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center Operating Room as a Senior Clinical Nurse. As this is a multicultural environment, I have been able to use all of the interpersonal and clinical skills that I have learned over the years to work as a team member to set up the Operating Room and mentor staff from other cultures to enable them to function in a Western standards environment. As the area has grown and facility management has changed, the governing body for health care realized that they required clinical expertise at their level to set up and continue with the Western standards of operation.
