Nancy's Story

Life Life is fullest when your are involved. Whether I'm helping a City Council, Mayor, Congressional Representative or Senator or a Presidential hopeful; or digging Garlic Mustard out of the ground, picking up at an adopted highway area, helping keep the lakes clean with pick up and stenciling projects; or assisting advocacy groups such as the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin; or doing things for my church; I feel fulfilled. Bicycle riding keeps me in shape and I've joined a gym so I don't just have power legs. I'm also an avid bowler. Bicycling in Tangueray's 2001 Heartland AIDSRide damaged my right hand, so I've become ambidexterous. Learning to bowl lefthanded was a challenge, I may keep it up for fun, but my right handed skills are better now, at least in the bowling world. Left handedness helps in the computer world, a lot more ergonomic! By all of these things that I do, I think you'd assume I'm single, yep. But friends help when the heart is empty. No time for pets, plants are easy and good and help the home environment. Newest and latest news, I was recognized on June 13, 2003 for my volunteer support for the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin on WIBA 1310 AM, the United Way and Award Promotions in their "Someone Special" program. Then again on July 1, 2003 I was recognized as Someone Special again in this program for my volunteer efforts with the Madison Area Weed Warriors in which we make efforts around the city county and state against Garlic Mustard. Inbetween these award recognitions in which I have received plaques, I participated in the Badger State Games in Bowling and won the Silver Medal in the Women's A division, average 175 and up. Workplace So I didn't even start working until college, got my feet wet in the main kitchen at SUNY Potsdam. Onions, car...Expand for more
rots and bacon, oh my! Summers and whenever I was back home in Rochester, I was a concessionaire at Loews/Sony 12 Plex in Webster. Moved to the Southern Tier of NY (Binghamton-Endwell) upon grad from college, deciding that I'd kill students rather than teach them, I had to find another path. So I did retail and management assistance at the Bon-Ton, simultaneously worked High School Prom photo shoots and became the studio's office manager in '95 when they expanded. Quit the Bon-Ton for Oakdale Images. All this time I was volunteering in membership and auction roles with WSKG TV and Radio. Got hired in '97 but then took a job with Wisconsin Public Television in '98 and relocated to Madison, Wisconsin where I think I'll stay. Madison made me realize that I could make a difference in the political world, so after volunteering for congressional and presidential campaigns, while keeping a low profile as a State employee, I left Wisconsin Public Television and became a financial consultant for Tammy Baldwin for Congress, I still do projects on an as needed basis. The Madison Mayoral campaign heated up and I got on board and helped Madison's new mayor get elected. It seems that I'll always be some sort of a fundraiser, although I manage databases too. The working knowledge of data and how it is utilized in the real world is valuable. Volunteering seems to get me employed, so I'm active in the environment and ride my bike instead of driving whenever I can. If you don't volunteer by yourself or with your kids, you're missing a big part of life. Oh, yeah, my time with Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority was and is great. Actually, that's how I learned about Wisconsin, and thought I'd like to relocate there. So I'm here and I'm happy. All I need now is a job to keep me here!
