Nancy's Story
Life
After high school graduation I enlisted in the Army and became a Radiologic Technologist. I have been one ever since. I was a supervisor in a clinic attached to St Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma. I have been married 32 years and have 2 daughters. Both of my girls have moved out 1 married and in Arizona the other down the road about 3/4 of a mile. So we have an empty nest, but are learning about each other again. I have retired now and trying to get some sewing done and some volunteer stuff done that I have never had time for before.
College
I first went to School in San Antonio, Texas. Received a
certificate in Radiology Technology. Then later went to TCC and finished enough credits for an AA at TCC, Then I taught at TCC for 3 years in the Radiologic Technologist Program.
Workplace
After high school I spent 3 years in the Army and then Started working at Tacoma General in the Radiology Dept. as a staff Technologist. The...Expand for more
n I moved to Shelton and worked at Mason General hospital for 1 1/2 years. I stopped working for awhile and went back to school at TCC. Then began working for a private Radiology office. Two years later I became the supervisor of all of their offices.
After adopting two little girls, I took 6 years off before going back to work in a clinic adjacent to St. Joseph Hospital. Our girls are both on their own, 1 here in Tacoma, working for Catholic Health Iniatives, the other is in Arizona, her husband is in the Air Force and they have given us a Grandson. He is 20 monthes old now. Of course, he is cute and intelligent.
I retired in 2006 after some health problems. Now I am a full time homemaker, making use of the time to read, sew, volunteer and just hang out.
Military
I joined the Army after high school and went to Radiologic Technology school. Then I did on the job training at Madigan and stayed there until I was discharged.
