Nancy's Story

Life I moved to Calgary right after I finished High School. I loved Calgary and worked for the City of Calgary for about 10 years. Being a secretary was just not for me. I decided to go back to school and become what I had always dreamed of. So I moved to Nelson, B.C.. I went to school at Selkirk College, in Castlegar, B.C., and I graduated as a Registered Nurse, 1995. I love my carreer choice, and enjoy mentoring students. I have worked for Interior Health Authority since I graduated, first in Psychiatry for 7 years, and now Medicine/Pediatrics, specializing in Palliative Care. I go to Ontario to visit my mom at least once a year in Eden Mills, still loving the four seasons in Ontario. I have probably seen more of Ontario as a tourist, Niagra Falls is stunning, each and every time. I just love the mountains more, so I will be staying in Beautiful B.C.. I currently live in Cranbrook and continue to work for Interior Health, although I am looking in doing some travelling nursing...so many opportunities. I plan on travelling to Haiti every November to assist in clinic nursing for those those w...Expand for more
ho wouldn't otherwise, get medical attention. We stay at an orphanage, and live with the locals. Giving is so much better than receiving.....Update.....I went to Haiti in November of 2006, what an incredible experience....the people beautiful, the medical clincs very busy....and only one down side....I got bit my a terribly nasty mosquito, contracted Dengue hemmorhagic fever, and nearly died in Haiti....My traveling days are over, at least anywhere tropical. I am thankful that I have done all the traveling that I have, because the islands of the carribean and Hawaii have the mosquitoes, as does Mexico and the Baja. The same mosquito that carries malaria and yellow fever is speading to our beautiful vacation spots...I have sold my place on the beach in the Baja, as advised by the tropical disease specialist.....and have settled for snowboarding, what an intense sport....I have now fully recovered, back at the gym, the ski hill, and back to work. I am enjoying the cold weather.....because it kills the mosqitoes....don't forget your sunscreen when travelling.....stay tuned for snowboarding pics
