Nancy's Story
Life
I am about to begin my 4.5th career change. My studies in horticulture have never really worked out. I do teach night school as a Tai Chi Instructor, so my certificate for Teaching and Training Adults helps. But, my newest career has me excited. I am now a Therapist in Acupressure and Therapeutic Touch.
School
I am glad for the experience of high school. At this time in my life I would not want to go through it again. My guess is that that is about the same for every one. Hind sight is 20/20! Remember the insecurities of grade nine. Grade ten was a little better. I was so great at it that I did it twice. While in grade eleven I started to mature. Grade twelve, I thought I was all grown up. That was a mistake.
College
As I have recently finished College, I look back to high school and how all I wanted to do was to get out into the "real world" and work. While taking these (college) classes I was prepared to learn. I have a son who followed in my foot steps. At the end of grade twelv...Expand for more
e he decided that he had all the knowledge and schooling he needed. It is interesting how life repeats its' self as each new generation come along.
Workplace
After school I went to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber on Lakeshore road for two years in the office. Next was Fairchild Semiconductors in Mississauga running the order desk for Canada. I left this job to move to Lake Erie to have and raise two kids. During that time I did odd jobs (house cleaning, grass cutting, snow shovelling, etc.) I now live in the Markdale area near Owen sound where I worked in a church for 14 years. I was employed at a fitness centre as a trainer. I teach Tai Chi in night school for the local school board. Now I will be self employed as a Therapist in Acupressure and Therapeutic Touch. I will be bringing my treatments to the patient rather then opening a clinic. To help with the expenses of a new business, I tutor. At present I am helping a young man prepare for his GED. I have tutored young people in the past.
