Nathalie's Story

Life After high school I went to Notre Dame Secretarial College in Montreal. When I graduated from there, I started working at Concordia University and worked there for 16 years. I probably would have retired there, but in November 2000, I met my Mr. Right and in April 2002 I moved to Phoenix,Arizona to get married (May 3rd, 2002). I couldn't work right away and finally got my Green Card in April 2003. At that point I was desperate to go home to Montreal to visit family and friends. I got my first US job on December 29, 2003 as an Administrative Assistant to 7 doctors. In August, 2004, I was promoted to Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of Orthopaedics for the county. Good money but I wish I was a little busier. Oh well...I'm sure things will pick up at some point. Things got a whole lot busier in March (2005) when the four trauma doctors at the largest level one trauma hospital in Phoenix left to start their own clinic at that hospital (St. Joseph's Hospital). They asked me to come along, and I did. It was a bit more money and a lot more work! I now do all their surgery scheduling as well as the administrative work and a lot of legal work as well. Lots of work and stress, but I enjoy it! My husband was an Operations Analyst at Dial Corp. then at the end of January 2...Expand for more
004, he was laid off and they sent the work overseas. Unfortunately, he was out of work for 7 1/2 months, but we managed. He finally found a job working for Hertz. The pay isn't what he is used to earning, but it's a job and he enjoys it. Ok, he doesn't enjoy it anymore and has applied to United States Postal Service. Now we keep our fingers crossed that something will come up for him. Shortly after we married, we bought a townhome in a small gated community that borders a golfcourse. Neither of us golf, but we love our home. We also have a little dog, who we named 'Velcro'. He suits his name to a 'T' because he sticks to us like velcro. hehehe We decided not to have children because we weren't spring chickens when we married and when the time comes to retire, we don't want to have to start worrying about putting kids through college. Velcro is our fur child and brings us hours of joy and entertainment. He's a little ham! I love living here in the valley of the sun. Summers are HOT, but winters are GREAT!! Everyone gets excited when it rains here, but I'm still to new here to appreciate the rain. hehehe. We have a pool and jacuzzi in our community and they are kept heated in the winter so we can swim year round. It's great! Well, that's it for now. Hope everyone is well!! *smile*
