st hand experience and didn't need me to take the course I then returned to Fort Sill to to the fire support commander school and taught the instructors a few on the ground lessons. Next assignment was ROTC instructor at Dayton University in Dayton Ohio for 4 years. Advanced to .Maj and reassigned to 2/BN 6th field Artillery i(175 Gun Bn as Battalion S-3. after 12 months was assigned to the Artillery Maintenance group at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. The Department of the Army then planned to move the group to Norfolk VA to consolidate maintenance procedures. I was one of the few that was not permitted to move as I had just arrived and would have to live very off base. I managed to be assigned to the 18th Airborne Division at Fort Bragg as assistant G4. Not the same as actual combat operations and wife and kids wanted a father.who didn't disappear to somewhere so I returned to civilian life assisting my FIL at a furniture store.
