Nelle's Story
My life has really been one for the books. I remember fondly Sacred Heart Academy and how I loved to make fun of eveeryone and everything I could get away with--especially when I would cough my graveyard cough during Chapel.. The nuns were never quite sure sure whether it was real or phony. I loved the classes and studying-- and also stirred up mischief when I could get away with it. I wound up being a col,lege professor when I was 26, and then became a nurse when I got tired of teaching--had one daughter, have done volunteer nursinf with nuns from East Africa in Williamsburg, Va--took care of a paraplegic pt in Newporrt News, Va-- and learned to ...Expand for more
work with autistic children in Va. I've been thrown into walls by patients, vomited on by childen, and threatened with having my throat cut if I ever disagreed with one of the autistic clients. I learned to sing in Swahili with the African nuns ( a little bit) and have never been so happy in my life, I had retired from County Home in B'ham. and am spending my time looking for more adventure.
