Nevy's Story
Life
My three older sisters and I were born in Cleveland, Ohio. We spent three years in Rochester NY, where my father earned his Doctor of Music degree. My family moved to Ripon in 1952, when he took the position as head of the music department at Ripon College. We enjoyed growing up in the small and friendly town, first living on Seward Street, and later, after my father died, on Newbury Street. Our early years were spent playing with good friends, going to Alice Callen and Roosevelt schools, and singing madrigal concerts with our family. We were very active in band and choir throughout our school years. We moved away to Bellingham, WA. for two years, and then to the Milwaukee area, where my mother was a music teacher and later a music supervisor. I graduated from Wauwatosa West HS, and went on to UW-Madison to become a music teacher. In 1969, I taught elementary general music in Lake Forest, IL., where I met my future husband. We were married in 1970 and moved to the Milwaukee area while he attended UWM and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

blic schools after graduating from UW- Madison and marrying Ed Naill. After he finished Medical School at the Medical College of WI, and I finished a Master's Degree in vocal performance at UWM, we had two children, lived in Germany for 3 1/2 years, lived in Madison again during his Radiation Oncology residency, and ended up in Muskegon, MI. in 1986. When my children were both in school full time, I returned to teaching part time in my friend's Montessori school, where I continue to teach music to infants through 6th graders two days a week. I have also taught private voice students at our local HS two days per week for a few years. My daughter and I are currently taking courses for a Master's degree in the Humanities together. It's a wonderful way for me to see her every other weekend, and to keep my brain up to date in the areas of philosophy, history, English, music, and art. There's lots of reading, research, and writing, but its also very exhilarating for me. Its lucky for me that I am not teaching full time, since it seems to take my more mature brain more time for all of this work than the younger generation who are more used to working on computers and who have written papers more recently than I.
