Nicholas's Story
After high school I went to Providence College for six months. Dropping out I was immediately drafted into the army and joined in June of 1968. I was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina for 1 week and then went to Fort Gordon in Georgia for two months. For AIT I was sent to Fort Ord near Salinas, California. After 6 months I went to Viet Nam for 12 months with the 9th Division. I left the army at the same time I left Viet Nam and went to work for Ann & Hope in Cumberland, Rhode Island. went back to school at Johnson & Wales and got into Information Technology. After my Associate's Degree I went to work for the Outlet Company in Providence, got married, went to work for Roger Williams Foods, and then went to work for Providence Gas Company where I stayed for 26 years. Last year I took the Voluntary Early Retirement package from the latest owner of the gas company, National Grid. My last adventure since retirement was a cruise from San Diego thru the Panama Canal to Miami, Florida. Early next year I hope to go to Aruba.
