After Rippowam I spent 4 years at Harvard and then headed West for law school at Stanford. After graduation I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where I practiced corporate law with a large firm until I retired at the end of 2012. The last ten years of my career I was our firm's managing partner, which gave new meaning to the expression "like herding cats." I married Linda Strickland in 1978, and we had a daughter and a son. I loved being a dad - family trips, coaching baseball and basketball, hiking, and just hanging at the beach. After a twenty-year marriage, Linda and I divorced in 1998. I had a couple of exciting years as a single dad raising two teenagers but we all survived somehow. In 2000, I married Koren Kubota, whom I had known for over twenty years, and we blended my two kids and her two. We were empty nesters by 2006 - all four kids are now married and self-supporting - and they have given us five beautiful grandchildren, all living here in Hawaii.
