Nicole's Story
Life
I know everyone thought I had nutty career plans...but I did finally finish my PhD in Egyptology at the University of Chicago in 2006.
Since graduating from UC Berkeley in 1993 I have spent about half my time in Chicago and the other half in Egypt. My husband (an Egyptian physician) and I got married in 2000 and have made it more than seven years now without an itch! We spent five years living in Cairo together where I worked on several archaeological projects, including as editor of thebanmappingproject.com, which won many major awards, and as archivist for an excavation at the pyramids.

hicago in 2005 and I finally got around to finishing my PhD dissertation (on reproductive and sexual health problems and childbirth in Egypt from ancient to modern times). I currently am working on my own business, Glyphdoctors.com, that offers online courses in Egyptology and hieroglyphs to the general public, as well as tours to Egypt and publications.
We have a home in Luxor, Egypt, where my husband is originally from and maybe someday we will move back there, but for the time being I only am there for visits and work-related trips.
