Norma's Story
I graduated in 1952 from Boswell High school. Graduated from St Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1955. Worked at Western Reserve University Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital until I was hired as a private nurse for Dr. Loop and Dr. Hull both surgeons in Lafayette, Indiana. I worked in the operating room and office as their private nurse. In l961 I applied for a job in Morenci, Arizona at a Copper mine hospital. Moved out to Arizona with everything I had in my Oldsmobile and started a new life for myself. I met the love of my life there. He was an Arizona Highway Patrolman. We had our first date on Nov 3, 1962 and were married on June 8, 1963. We started our married life in Apache Junction, Arizona. Our first child was born while living there, a daughter. My husband was transferred to Page, Az. I worked there at a school nurse. A beautiful place to live. Glen Canyon is there and the beautiful Lake Powell. ...Expand for more
Our second daughter was born in Page.
My husband was promoted to Sgt. and we moved to Safford, Az. I worked there in their small Safford Inn Hospital as general floor duty and the emergency room. Our third daughter was born in Safford. After three years in Safford we moved again to Mesa, Arizona. I worked part time in the operating room at the local hospital. My husband continued with his promotions and retired after 20 years as Captain of the Arizona Dept. of Public Safety. He then started his own
business Charles E Scott and Associates private investigations and process serving until he retired at age 59. My husband passed away four years ago. I live in Mesa, Az. and I have one of my daughters living with me and her family.
We all get along very well and I am so grateful I am not alone. I am still very active in volunteering at a genealogy library and Church activities as well as having an active family.
