Olivia's Story
Where to begin! After high school, I took some time, tried some classes at San Diego Mesa College (dropped all), and bummed around. After about 5 months I decided it was time to get serious. In the fall of 1994, I started classes (again) at SD Mesa. I received my Associates Degree in 1996 but have not completed my Bachelors Degree. I've attended UC Berkeley and Penn State University, changed my major about 5 times and have about 95 credits. I just can't seem to find time to squeeze classes in.
In 1994 when I was starting Mesa for the second time, I met someone and we moved in together within a few months. We got married in 1998 and now after 13 years of marriage, almost 17 years together, 3 beautiful children and 3 trips between San Diego and Central Pennsylvania (oh yes, all three trips by car), we are still together living a pretty darn good life.
In 2001, less than a year after our son was born, we saw that salaries weren't keeping up with the rising cost of living and we decided to do something about the situation. Circumstances were not in our favor and we needed to leave within a ...Expand for more
week of deciding. We were in the process of moving to a larger apartment and when we felt we couldn't afford the new place we tried to keep our old apartment but it had already been rented. Literally we packed up a U-haul and started heading east. A week later we arrived at my in-laws in central PA. We have been here ever since.
Our two girls were both born in State College. I currently work (and study in my free time) at Penn State. We own a nice ranch house about 35 miles outside of State College with ten acres. My husband has been self-employed now for six years and has been lucky with his success. My focus now is my family. The three children keep me very busy, I work full-time. As you can see, I do not have much free-time.
I still try to get out to spend time with co-workers or friends and keep in touch with folks from the past. The house may be a mess, and we may resort to cereal for dinner about once every two weeks but it's all a balancing act. I'm on FB, L-In, and can be found via the Penn State directory. I'm also very happy to hear from classmates oklewis at verizon dot net.
