Pam's Story
I graduated from Dugway in 1967, then went to Brigham Young extension course on Post that fall, transferred to Utah State in January. January 1969, I married 1LT William Ray Smith. In October that year, he went to Vietnam while I attended University of Utah. When he came home, we moved to San Antonio, Texas where we still live (with a brief side trip to Indianapolis). I graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in 1972 with a BBA in accounting. I worked in public accounting, for a homebuilder, a government agency, and a private university. I quit to sell Mary Kay 24 years ago. We have a daughter who's 37 and married 15...Expand for more
years to the best son-in-law in the world and they have a 8 year old son. She tutors and substitues and sometimes we get to babysit. We also have a 20 year-old son, who attends college part-time and has a one-year-old daughter, Vera We babysit a lot--they live with us. Ray is retired from the Army as LTC, the Texas State Comptroller, and a consulting company. He works contract audits for the state now. I had surgery for breast cancer, chemotherapy, and radiation in 2008. I'm overweight and spend lots of time taking care of grandbabies, but just as beautiful as I ever was in high school (if you believe that, I have a bridge I'd like to sell).
