Pamela's Story

Life I married at 21 to a man in the Army. At 30, I was told that I would never have children, so I joined the Army, too. A year later my son was born. Doctors don't always know everything, no do they? :-) He's my miracle child. I am blessed. After almost 21 years of marriage, we divorced and about 5 years I met my second husband and we moved together to NC with our kids. He was killed by a drunk driver in 2004. I live alone now and am pretty content with my life. I guess I'm like a Times watch.... I've taken a licking and keep on ticking. I'm not sure how or why, but being in a service profession helps, I think. It's harder to curl up in a ball and give up when I see so many others who have it worse than I do. I do my best to eat well, usually only veggies, fruits, a bit of fish with no bread to speak of. I guess I'm a bit of a health nut. Now if only I would exercise more... My Pets I have 1 dog and 2 indoor/outdoor cats. In the past, I've had fish, rabbits, hamsters, chickens, and a goat. I've downsized since I live...Expand for more
alone! My Kids My son is 25 years old, as of 2013. He lives in Asheville with his fiance'. He works a J.O.B. and is now building a website and hopes to get a home based business up and running soon. Wish him luck so he can support his old Mamma! My Job I have been an RN since 1976, and although I have left nursing a couple of times, I have never regretted being a nurse. It has served me well. I'm currently a nursing supervisor with a home care company. Me I am currently single, and that's OK for now. I have the best friends on the planet, critters to share my life with, a son who lives nearby and makes me proud , a job that is rewarding and a garden to dig in. My life is full. School After graduating from high school, I attended nursing school. I went to a diploma school and then went on to get my BSN in nursing. I was in the Army for four and a half years. It was the right thing at the right time for me. And it was right for me to get out once I had my children. I always knew I'd rather be a Mom than a soldier.
