Pamela's Story
Majored in Biophysics at Penn State. Budget Analyst then Program Control Officer for VA medical construction program for about 4.5 years before moving on to USPTO. Was budget analyst, then system troubleshooter, then Deputy Director of Office of Patent Policy and Program Control, then deployed and networked PCs for Patent Examining Corps, then managed the distributed object computation research project. Went back to school at night and got MS in Info Mgt from Marymount. Taught at Marymount for 4 years as Adjunct Professor in evenings (taught intro to computers) while working at USPTO. Established Patents Intranet site and was Patents Webmaster, then transferred to CIO offices and was USPTO Webmaster for about 8 years. Moved to General Counsel front office for 3 years where I worked as an IT business analyst and led their web team. Offices of Patent Legal Advisors, Petitions, Patent Cooperation Treaty Legal, and also support Patent Reexamination. I am their "technomage," running interference with the IT folks, developing new and better ways of doing things, and giving life to their statistics.
Have two sons, both in college and determined to be independent; youngest is violinist (was concertmaster in 3 orchestras his senior year). He has a side business - Arco Dynamico, performing for weddings and events with a former teacher. I spend a lot of time in my car getting him to and from rehearsals, lessons, concerts, and competitions.
Have 4 talkative parrots (Goffin cockatoo, black lory, and 2 green-cheeked conures) and 4 cats - a fat pink tiger, a black & tan tiger, the Himalayan from hell, and a Russian blue who thinks she's a dog.
Still sing (do National Anthem a lot) and still do a lot of artwork - mostly computer graphics lately.
