Patrice's Story
Life goes on. I'm back in Central Illinois after some time in Los Angeles. I'm going to be a social worker when I grow up, so I'm working on my master's degree at the University of Illinois and live in Urbana. I didn't go to college right after we all graduated from high school like so many of you did, but got right down to the business of being a wife and mother and didn't really come up for air until some time in my thirties. Major change happened at that point: I started college for the first time, and fell in love with education and got my bachelor's degree in 2002, worked full time as a social worker after graduation then started graduate school in 2005. ced degree has been a long one with unexpected turns and obstacles, but it's happening and I'm proud. Also, in a relationship with a great man named Paul. We've been through a lot together. We love going to live music events and festivals, especially blues music. Traveling's a kick, too, and we do that when we're not working and studying. I have three grown kids who are still coming up with new ways to delight and terrify me. I have a grand baby that I'm nuts about, so that helps.
