Patricia A.'s Story

Life After graduation I worked for about a year and then Lee and I got married and lived in Pittsburgh until he graduated from Carnegie Tech. We moved soon after graduation to Williamsville, New York and lived there for eleven years. Oh, those long cold winters! We made some wonderful friends while there and we're still in touch with them...they're just like family! It was an interesting time; I got involved in community theater among other things. I also had a learning experience...I learned that if a meeting is being held at your home and you try to be a good hostess and go to the kitchen to get the coffee and snacks together; you'll find when you get back that they voted you in as the new den mother! It's not a job that you wanted but neither did anyone else and they thought you'd be the one who was too shy to say "no". It took a number of years but I finally did learn to say "no" in a nice way and not even feel guilty about it. Before learning that lesson I became an extremely busy person though! In 1972 we moved to El Paso along with a number of other families from the company that Lee worked for at the time. We had a wonderful ten years there and made lots of new friends and learned so much about the history of the area and Texas in general. It was so nice back then but I hear that it's not very nice these days and not all that safe anymore either. I could write a book about the time we spent there; it was a very busy time but we have...Expand for more
the most wonderful memories from those years! I loved it when the kids were in high school and would bring their friends home...they were all in band and we never missed a competition or a football game. In 1982 we moved to Sunnyvale California and by then our youngest daughter was a senior in high school. This time we moved with two kids a dog and four cats! About eleven years later we moved up the peninsula to San Carlos and then in 2003 we moved to where we are now in the San Diego area...a beach town called Encinitas. We love it here and hope not to do anymore moving...unless it would be to Maui or Kauai! We have enjoyed all of the places where we have lived and have added so many friends over the years to our "family". We have been fortunate to have visited most of the states in our own country and to have gone to other countries as well...and there should be a lot more traveling ahead of us yet ...we hope! The years have raced by much too fast but they've been good years and we look forward to many more years to enjoy our famly and friends and to pursue new hobbies and peprhaps to learn a couple of languages for when we travel to some of our favorite places. We wish happiness and good health to all of our classmates. If you should find yourself in the San Diego area please give us a call so that we can get together and show you the town and go to dinner, etc. Hope to hear from you... Pat
