Patricia's Story
Life
I'm currently happily married to husband #2 (Ken) with 2 daughters and 5 grandkids.I've also got one great step-daughter. They are all wonderful and the grandkids (3 girls and 2 boys) give me great joy. Like everyone else, life has had its ups and downs. I was a single mom for nearly 19 years but met Ken when his daughter was in my Girl Scout troop. I spent a lot of years looking for Mr Right after divorcing my first husband, being a Girl Scout leader, theater costumer, actor, volunteer at the local museum, band mom, chauffeur, chief cook, housekeeper, auto mechanic, gardener, church choir member, Desert chamber singers member, Girl Scout trainer, camper, and hiker as well as Sears appliance repair technician.
Since meeting Ken I can add Revolutionary War reenactor, blackpowder champion shooter, genealogist, historical researcher and costumer, 18th century cook, airplane mechanic, tuxedo salesperson and administrative assistant.
We have been together for 16 years now and in March will celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.
Workplace
I worked almost 26 years for Sears starting as a clerk typist, becoming a parts clerk and eventually a service technician repairing small appliances such as sewing machines, vacuum cleaners, and microwave ovens. Eventually Sears "downsized" or "centralized" or made me "redundant" by moving operations ...Expand for more
to Fontana. I chose to accept their layoff rather than move there and reapply for my old job and disrupt my entire family. Air quality issues for my husband, his job, our paid-for home, kids in school etc. Since then I've worked as an airplane mechanic removing salvagable parts from 737s and DC9s that were being decomissioned, as a tuxedo salesperson in a bridal shop and as an administrative assistant for a home business.
Military
While I never served in the military I have a strong connection to the US Marine Corps since my stepson SSgt
Allan K Walker was killed in action 6 April 2004 in Iraq.
Ken and I have always been patriotic attending Veteran's Day and Memorial Day ceremonies and marching in parades with our Revolutionary War reenacting group. Now these events mean a lot more and we attend many more in honor of Allan and his sacrifice.
Ken currently serves in the California Military Reserve, a backup up for the National Guard. His unit will never be deployed overseas.
OK everybody, I've spilled my guts so I want to see some more life stories up there to read. Granted this is the sanitized version of mine because like everyone I have some skeletons in my closet that I don't just lay out there for all to see. I also don't expect to see the written version of the Jerry Springer show, but please give some juicy details of your lives!
