Patricia's Story

Life I'm turning 60 in a couple weeks .....Yikes!! Time sure has flown since graduation. I'm too fricken cute to be over a half century old (Ha Ha) :-) I actually didn't graduate with my Class of 1978. I had left home that last semester of my senior year of High School and had skipped a lot of classes. When I learned I was pregnant (ut oh.. gee.. I wonder how THAT happened.. ha ha) AND that I wouldn't pass a couple of my classes from having skipped school so much (and would therefore be 2 credits short) I just stopped attending school. Against my parent's wishes I married (Dad reluctantly signed for me to) and I had my baby. Three years later I left my marriage and returned to high school nights to obtain my high school diploma, and then went to Mott Community College for my Associates Degree, followed by U of M Flint for my Bachelors in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. I left the Flint area due to lack of employment opportunities and have lived/worked in the Farmington Hills/Novi area for the greater part of my life since getting my degree (aside from 3 years in Harrison Twp, 1 year in Davison, and 2 years in Rochester Hills). I had married a second time in 1992 yet I left that marriage as well in 1997. I discovered from that marriage that I never want to be a "custodial" Stepmother again after attempting to raise 2 custodial stepchildren for 7 years. I became engaged a third time in 2001 after 3 years into the relationship but realized before it was too late that it was destined to be a third divorce ...so I left it and him. I apparently am not one to stay in a relationship very long. I don't have it in me to cheat nor to settle for miserable ..so I leave and start over. Whatever happened to the fairy tale of meeting my Prince, him whisking me off to some Castle, and us living happily ever after?? Owell.. such is life.. unpredictable. You just roll with the punches and do the best you can. I have no regrets as I am the product of my experiences and I love who I am! :-) My career is that of a payroll administrator. I worked for the corporate offices of Credit ...Expand for more
Counseling Centers (now called Greenpath Debt Solutions) for 12 years, followed by a year with Summit Underwriting (hated it there), a year with Minacs USA (they just used me to cover for the then payroll administrator who was needed for a temporary project implementation), a year with SpectrumHR (an assembly line type of payroll service), 3 years at Amera Mortgage Corporations' corporate office, and I now work for a holding company in Plymouth which consists of 6 different union concrete companies in the metro Detroit area. I've been here for over 12 years now, I'm a great fit, and really like the people I work for and with. My son is turning 42 in December.. He has an Associates Degree from Grand Rapids Community College and a Bachelors Degree from Ferris State in criminal justice and works as a bail bonds man, has made a life for himself on the westside of the state, and has 2 sons (my grandsons Brady 4-1/2 years old and Roman age 3). This pandemic has made 2020 a totally crap year. I haven't been able to visit my son and grandsons since March due to the risk involved and I've been working remotely from home except for a couple days a week.. It was great seeing so many AHS alumni and the teachers that were in attendance at the 70s Decade Reunion several years back. I had a great time and it was really nice to finally get to see again those underclassmen who were friends back at Ainsworth. Hope we can do this again while we still have our health (somewhat) and our looks (somewhat ..lol). I would love to hear from old school chums! :-) I'm on the most popular social media. P.S. I am deeply saddened to continue to see that more and more of my old classmates and friends are passing away. Makes me really start to realize that life is waaaaay too short.. and that who knows, I could always be next. I am sooo not ready for life to over! But if and when my day should come I want those of you that I once knew to know I still have all the great memories.. they are precious to me.. and I thank you for all you contributed to making me into who I am and having lived the life that I have :-)
