Patricia's Story
Life
I never married, but do have a daughter who was born in 1990. She was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome a few years ago. Most of the past 15 years I have spent taking care of my daughter. Only recently have I begun to 'get a life' as my mother puts it. A year or so ago, she and various other female relatives (Grandmothers, Aunts, ect.) were suggesting that I join something to 'meet people'. (Translation: Find a husband.) So what did I do? I joined a WOMEN's chours. I am currently singing with the Evergreen Chorus (of Sweet Adelines). I am enjoying it a lot (not to mention that I am getting some much n...Expand for more

Workplace
If you had told me back in high school that I would 'grow up' to be an engineer, I probably would have laughed at you. Engineers were guys. Very geeky guys. But my father kept after me to join him at DOT and eventually I did. Now I can't imagine doing anything else. In fact, I am part of a group of people from work who go out to the local schools to promote engineering as a career. Especially to the girls. So, to sum it all up, even though I didn't go as far as most people (meaning parents <G>) thought I should have in college. I'm happy where I am and with what I am doing.
