Patricia's Story
Life
My life started out in 1966 by my birth. As a preacher's daughter, the ongoing years were spent on the move, from town to town. A year after I graduated from John F. Kennedy in New Orleans, La., I moved to Missouri. At the age of 20, I met my husband Marty and we were married March 21, 1988. We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2008. We have four children all together. The two oldest ones are(from Marty's first marriage): Mischa (28, married to Josey-a marine who was in Iraq and is now a water patrolman in southwest Missouri) is an RN and working at a clinic in Joplin. They have two daughters, Alyssa Myree who will turn 6 in August and Avery Renea, who turned 2 in April and one son who was born the week of Thanksgiving, 2007. Tim (almost 27 and who was in the Army and also in Iraq and spent his last two years in Germany) lives in Joplin and works for a utility company outside of Joplin. Our two youngest ones are Amy (she just turned 19 and has finished her first year in college in Hannibal, Mo - double majoring in English and Theatre -) and Josh (17 and is a senior in high school). My husband works for an international company that deals with supplies for utility companies. I am working at a local public library in Centralia and have worked...Expand for more
here for 9 years. I love the work itself and the interaction with the public. I also take training sessions to learn more about this job and other responsibilities that I am in charge of. I love the town/area and the school system and my husband and I are trying very hard to stay here until the youngest graduates school. We've been very blessed here and enjoy spending time with our family and each other. Life has had ups and downs, but we're pretty pleased with our lot in life.
School
I was not a big fan of school, having moved a lot, but of course, Kennedy stands out in my mind because of this being the end of my high school years. I have many memories to remember; Smurf breakdancing in class, listening to the twins and Sean singing outside, skipping school, senior skip day, trying to learn the bus stop, watching Mr. Peychaud doing the bus stop, the whoopie cushion in Mr. Moore's class, Ernestine looking for the rip in her prom dress, watching Nip coming into prom wearing the whitest tux I've ever seen, graduation... I could go on and on. I remember my homeroom nominating me for most friendliest. That was a huge surprise! I miss seeing old friends, but the internet is a wonderful thing and it's cool to be able to talk to those friends, when I can.
