Patrick's Story
Starting fresh with this site--- and even with my own past. Strange notion, eh? Starting fresh with ones past? Anyway, in Long Beach California now, typing out lectures I recorded (and did a good job of it!) at the University of Chicago in the mid 1970s. Ever read Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? One of the professors I recorded is a character in that book. m hoping to write a second string quartet. A couple of my favorite works (other than my own) at the moment: Rheinhold Gliere's Ilya Muromets Symphony (a musical story of a famous Russian folk here from about 1000 years ago who, with a handful of his bros, was capable of defeating armies of tens of thousands. Unfortunately he overplayed his hand just a bit, and wound up petrified into stone. Bummer, eh? ) And the Symphony #3 "Symphonie Liturgique" by Swiss composer Arthur Honegger, published in 1946. Yes, it has something to do with WWII and the most innocent of its victims.
