Patrick's Story
Life
Well, lets see. Since highschool, I spent a couple of years messing with computers. Did a lot of things that I wish I hadn't. Then cleaned up my act and joined the army. I was stationed at Ft Stewart Georgia in the 3d Infantry Division for the first four years of my military career, where I was a mechanized infantry soldier. I got to do some pretty fun things, such as driving M2A3 Bradley Fighting vehicles, experimenting with weaponry no civilian can get their hands on, along with demolitions. Shortly after i arrived in GA, I met my wife of 8 years. A few months after meeting her, I was shipped to Kuwait as part of Operation Desert Thunder, a show of force to get Saddam Hussein to let NATO weapons inspectors into Iraq. After I returned, I got married, and shortly after my daughter was born. Next I reclassified to a Computer Operator Analyst, and spent 7 months in Fort Gordon, GA while they taught me about Unix, Cisco routers, and the Defense Messaging System. After i finished school I spent a year long tour in Korea, where I worked on logistics databases and computer systems. September 11th put a krimp in my mid-...Expand for more
tour leave plans(I was supposed to go Sept 13th), so I spent the entire tour overseas away from my family on guard duty in some of the most bitter weather I have ever experienced. I was also promoted to Sergeant(E-5) and attended the Wightman NCO academy, where I graduated on the Commandant's List. In 2004 I was stationed at Fort Meade, MD, where I worked as training NCO and Database Administrator, supporting NSA operations worldwide. There, I of course, did SQL database administration, and also, as an additional duty, trained soldiers in military tasks. I was a firearms instructor, land navigation instructor, Enemy Prisoner of War procedure instructor, along with various other duties. In 2004 I left active duty for philosophical differences and returned to Colorado, where I spent a year in the Colorado National Guard doing computer support. In 2005 I left the military completely. Now I work for National Distributing Company in Littleton doing network administration. In August of 2005 my son was born. This year I filed for divorce and haven't seen my kids in about a year. Its a long story, maybe I'll share it some day.
