Patrick's Story
After finishing high school, I left the Eastern Townships (Lennoxville) to spend the summer with the militia (The Sherbrooke Hussars). While at Valcartier, I received a letter of offer from the Canadian Coast Guard to study marine engineering at their College in Sydney Nova Scotia. I graduated from there in 1977 and joined the Coast Guard Fleet in Quebec City (next time you are standing on the boardwalk or in the Citadel, look down at the waterfront and notice the big red ships... that's the Coast Guard base in the old city...). y summers in the Arctic and my winters in the River and Gulf St. Lawrence. Eventually, I was offered an assignment in Ottawa and for many reasons, I never returned to sea. Instead I moved to Ottawa in 1979. Skipping ahead a lot, I married Naomi in 1995 and we have been very happy ever since. Our Schnauzer Abby completes our small family.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is a former girlfriend, because I treated her poorly and I want to say I am sorry for the way I behaved then. I probably should apologize to quite a few people for being a jerk - I really was immature when I was a teenager... some might even say that about me today but I use that impulsiveness to propel me into new adventures.
