Patrick's Story
Left Chicago in August of 1987 after working 10 years on the Belt Railway, moved to Georgia near my parents and went to school for my nursing degree. Moved to Phoenix and worked in the engineering industry for 20+ years, gaining additional education as a hydro-geologist and working mostly in the hydrology of riverene and riparian systems.
Married Connie VanCleave in 1983 and have two sons, Ben (1986) and Caleb (1990). Both sons are in the Navy. Ben is special forces while C...Expand for more

We've been in Oregon (home for my wife) since 2006. My increased dissatisfaction with the engineering community as a whole, and especially the environmental sector caused me to abandon for-profit engineering in 2009 and to volunteer with groups such as Pacific Rivers Council and the Sierra Club. I spend a good deal of time with small farm projects and raise lavender and chickens as a crop. I also cook several gourmet sauces used by restaurants in Albany, Eugene, and Portland.
As a family, we have set aside the accumulation of wealth and "things," instead seeking to accumulate peace and a stressless life. And we definitely support any movement to legalize hemp. We love visitors, stop by any time!
