Patti's Story
I actually had three tours to Soest, two with my family '55-'57,and went to the elementary school, '62-'64 attending the Soest High School in grades 10 and 11. Next tour was with my first husband in'68-'71. We were one of the last ones to leave Soest to travel down the autobahn to Baden Solingen. Back to Gagetown NB with two children, after two years posted to Chatham NB for seven years. Divorced and moved to NS home to my retired parents in their hometown of Truro. Raised my two for seven more years and met my future husband who was raising three of his own. We combined families consisting of a 19 yr. old, an 18yr. old, 2 16 yr.olds, and a 9 year old in a three bedroom bungalow with one bathroom and the three girls had long hair. Had to limit time to ten minutes each in the morning. Oldest boy was the smartest as he took his...Expand for more
bath at night and the nine year old boy wasn't into bathing at that time, voluntarily. I retired ten years ago when we bought our place here on the Minas Basin in the Bay of Fundy. I love to garden, fish, and build things. I was the seamstress and upholsterer for the Training school for the Handicapped in Bible Hill until the government in all it's wisdom shut it down to assimilate our kids into the mainstream school system. We can dig clams in our area of the Bay and fish stripped bass without a license . When I want to take a break from my building i grab my pole, chair, and a couple of brews and walk down the hill to the beach. Isn't life great? Both of my parents are still living at 83 and 86 but my mom has arterial sclerosis causing dementia and Dad is her great caregiver. That is all for now. Have a great weekend classmates
