Paul's Story

I always wanted to be a pilot or someone who dealt with aircraft when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a cool idea. As it turns out, they were right. In 1996, I enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and worked as a Crew Chief (aircraft mechanic) on C-5's, C-130's, C-9's, KC-135's, and C-17's. I was honorably discharged in 2005. I am currently in the Reserves. I love to jog and work out when I'm stressed, but I really don't stress out. My friends probably would remember that about me. I also enjoy playing my keyboard and hanging out with my family. The wildest thing I ever did in high school was probably "T.P." a total stranger's house and get caught in the process. This, in turn, led to a high speed chase through a residential neighborhood with the homeowner right on our tail. There was 7 of us crammed in my little hatchback as we hopped curves, cut through yards and alley ways, and barely missed a pedestrian homeowner. All this action surely woke the neighbors. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my car, cell phone, and chocolate to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero was my dad. He was such an inspiration and the back bone to our family. He was an awesome, devout Christian man who would sacrifice everything for his family. He treated my mom with respect and love, and my sisters and I as his pride and joy. My dad's coworkers would say that he was the same person at work as he probably was at home. He was kind and compassionate to all. He took the time to always play with us after a hard day's work. As you could probably tell, I am writing this in the past tense. I sadly lost my father to cancer in 2005; Tom, (my dad) was 54. I moved to Lewiston, ID right after graduation to attend college. Then, in the fall of 1995, I moved to Abbotsford, B.C. Canada to attend a Bible College. I only lasted for a semester because full-time work had taken its toll as I tried to keep focused on school. So, I moved back to Lewiston. I enlisted in the Air Force in May 1996, and went down to San Antonio, TX for basic training followed by technical schools in Witchita Falls, TX and finally Dover, DE. My first duty station was Travis AFB, CA (between San Francisco and Sacramento, CA). I was there from 1996-2000. Then, my wife and I moved to Ramstein AB, Germany where we lived until August 2003. After that, we moved to Fairchild AFB, WA (near Spokane). We were there until July 2005 and then moved back to Lewiston after getting out of the military. In the summer of 2007, we moved to Shelton, WA. After that, we moved to Spokane so that I could work as a dispatcher for the county sheriff's office. In Oct. 2008, my family and I moved back to the Lewis-Clark valley (border of Washington and Idaho)because of my father-in-law's death. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again cannot not be narrowed down. So...Expand for more
I'll say my band friends and track buddies, because of all the great times we had together. I love to watch football. I don't know if I really like reality tv, but I put up with it because my wife likes to watch it. My obsessions are spending time with my family, playing music, running and getting together with friends. The biggest surprise of life was my father passing away shortly after my 30th birthday. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel nothing and add on a little of nothing. My dream home would be mansion because right now I am trying to buy a home. My son is only 2, but I 've learned that children that young can have a crazy sense of humor. The teacher that I would really like to see again is Ms. Mimms. She was really an inspiration and an awesome educator who helped prepare me for college. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10 % of it to church, then spend the rest on my family, friends and myself. I've lived in the dorm at Bible college and in the military. Let me tell you, Bible college was the wildest. One time, I was taking a shower in the guy's community shower room and someone turned out the lights, dumped a bucket of ice into my stall and then preceded to steal my clothes. After I got of the suddenly freezing shower, I found my room locked and my clothes hanging on an exit sign in the co-ed community hangout area. I had to streak out and retreive my clothes. To be truly happy, I would be in Hawaii with my family cruising the coastline in a boat. My current age is 33. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old and have all their children. I was so completely wrong. My career has taken many twists lately, but I would still like to get my Airframe and Powerplant license and work on commercial airplanes. I'm not sure what happened to my first crush, there were so many.:) I don't dress like I did 10 yrs. ago, thanks to my wife. She keeps me in style. The weirdest job I ever had was being a truck driver because it doesn't fit my personality. I share my home with my wife and son, which I find amazing. The only trophy I have somewhere in storage is a gold medal I won for 10K military fun-run. If I had one do-over I would probably not have racked up credit card debt when I was a single airman. In 10 years, I hope to be commercial aircraft mechanic and volunteer children's pastor in a local church . I'm going to get there by going to school . The thing that would surprise everyone at a reunion is that I haven't really changed at all. My first job was at Mtn Home AFB commissary, where I got paid tips to bag groceries. What I remember most about it was how many times I never got tipped. A childhood memory I'll never forget is all the summer vacations we took. We were the "TRUE GRISWOLDS". The adventures of getting locked out of van and camper to the stories of a wild man in the middle of nowhere chasing us.
