Paul's Story

Life I never played the saxophone again after high school, but did learn the guitar and 5-string banjo and played for a while in a group at college when folk singing was all the rage. I rarely play now. Went to Muhlenberg College for two years, then into the Army and flew helicopters in 'Nam from Oct. '68 to Oct.69, then taught the instructors class at Ft. Wolters, Texas for 14 months. After the Army, met my wife to be (Leslie) on a blind date in 1972. After we got married in 1973, I finished college and went back to work at IBM. We have two daughters, identical twins, Meredith and Stephanie. They are both married. Meredith had our first grandchild Rob in April of 2008. Stephanie gave birth to another grandson (Emmett) in September of 2009 and then a second grandson Wesley in July of 2013. I worked for IBM for 34 years and then worked as a consultant out of my home in Olney, MD until mid-2007, when I retired for good. We still live in Olney, close to the kids and grandchildren. For the last six years I have written books describing the detail development of the Westinghouse jet engines (19A, 19B, J30, J32, J40, J46) for the U....Expand for more
S. Navy. These are published by Kindle Publishing as softcover books and are available on Amazon.com. I will be writing a book on the J34 as soon as the national Archives in College Park re-open from being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I still follow aviation very closely and volunteer regularly at a local aviation museum in College Park, MD. I suffered kidney damage due to a thyroid storm in 2016. After a year of medication and careful diet, they have largely healed up and now operate normally.. Like a lot of men my age, I had my prostate operated on and had to battle a series of infections, one of which clapped me into the hospital for four days. All is well now (2021). We are now emerging from hiding out due to CIVID, having gotten our vaccine shots. Seems strange to be up and about without a mask (most of the time still). College BS Degree in Biology but never used it in my career at IBM or elsewhere. I was awarded a diploma from Towson State College in 1975. My endless thanks to the now gone elementary teachers at Cranbury Elementary school who taught me how to write a complete sentence, especially Evelyn Beckford.
