Paul's Story

Life After high school graduation I worked for a few years at various jobs. After developing a strong interest in science (astronomy, chemistry and physics) I decided to go to college and become a chemist. I co-founded The Des Moines Astronomical Society (1970). During my undergraduate work at ISU I did research on fertilizer runoff into waterways under a US government environmental grant. nts researching variable stars. I graduated from Iowa State University in 1973 with a B.S. degree in chemistry and a minor in physics. I worked for the State of South Dakota for 1 year as an analytical chemist. In 1974 I was offered a job with Abbott Laboratories in Northern Illinois. During my 26 years with Abbott I worked in numerous areas. I started as an analytical chemist in the Hospital Products Division then R&D (while in R&D I coded a statistics program), a couple areas of QA, Diagnostics and finally Engineering. I retired at the end of June 2000. If you remember me (or even if you don't) get a hold of me.
