Paula's Story

Debbie and I became best of friends, from exploring the woods, to her going camping with us. Crazy sleep overs at each other homes. She would teach me the art of the curling iron, back then they were fairly new. I played the saxophone, and continued that for many years. I remember Mike Drilling, Jennifer Cucci (spelling on last name could be wrong), Julie, Bonnie a street over. I remember the sadness as up the road from me Scott Hamerling inhaled pam into a bag, his mom found him. I didn't know him well, but I am sure he was troubled. So many others but names become vague with age. One thing I loved about when we grew up was the joy, of just being kids. Parents let us play forever well until dusk outside. We could walk when school was out to play tether ball, oh I loved that. We could go ice skating at the parks greenfield believe the other is rainbow. We had a childhood, where children could be just that children. Free to ride our bikes for hours, play kick ball, kick the can, flash light tag. One thing I think most kids now will never experience. Shortly after starting jr high, we moved to Arkansas a beautiful state so pretty on a farm, yeah green acres for sure. Pam (my little sister) and I had so much fun riding our horses on the 150 acre farm, hours at a time, seeing so many things that were different specially the bugs, huge beetles just very different bugs. It was a hard move though with school we spoke with a different accent and endure so much teasing. They the south though they won the civil war, I got sent to the office one time because I had said really to a teacher where is the forced slave labor and poor share cropping whites. I was really bored in classes as they were so far behind what we had already learned in West Allis. Even the teacher were constantly on us about our northern accent. Up there we said you guys, well that also got me sent to the office where for the first time I saw huge board holes drilled and tape. I looked at them and like no way no way. They demanded to use or call my parents I of course choose them to call. Being before cell phones I didn't know a way for them to call them. I choose to go home. After struggling with the prejudice I faced I was never so glad to leave school. I so enjoyed young adulthood. I have had many careers successful, publish poetry, started companies, movements. I have one child and two grandchildren. Still manage to stay in touch with Debbie. I rescue animals that betrayed and dumped. Much like the poor kitty some boys on my block in West Allis were being mean to,. This is so rewarding for me I think even more than the animals think. I do have face book under my name with Harris though. I live in southern Texas where winters are short, summers a bit brutally hot and much longer. I do enjoy Texas more than anywhere I have ever lived. I hav...Expand for more
e learned I'd rather be single than settle, raising teenagers is hard, karma visits everyone, God forgives all, the most beautiful people have beautiful souls of kindness compassion and mercy. Loosing loved ones hurts, grandchildren are great, boys are far different than girls, having had a girl with two grandsons I learned this. Self forgiveness is the hardest to do, forgiving others is hard, but never forget learn. I would rather be kind and taken advantage of once then to leave a person with need.. I have a gypsy spirit, I love the country more than suburbia or city life. I am happier living life on my terms than adapting to the will of others. I would rather stand alone for something that is right rather than not stand at all. I have the white house number memorized. Speak up vote, or get what is coming. I believe we have the right to own guns and protect our property. I respect police less and they use their badge to hide behind cruel acts. I would rather spend time alone in the quite than a crowd. Material things don't make you happy, loving yourself does. Conceited people can be beautiful but with out compassion kindness and mercy they appear ugly. That if one does stand up for change you can not get more to. The government allows too much money to be influencing our policies. Example our food is now so over processed and full of chemicals traceable to now our body health care costs will rise. Our veterans get treated poorly while politicians get huge benefit packages. Elderly go without care and respect. Homeless children hungry in our country is a shame on us all. YOU CAN NEVER BUY YOUR HEALTH BACK, SMOKING CAUSED ALONG WITH FAMILY HISTORY A LUNG DISEASE THAT WILL ONE DAY END MY LIFE. Why is alcohol legal when people become violent and kill people driving, yet a plant is not? When did the government get the right to look in my emails, phone calls, banks without my knowledge. Why do more people vote for American Idol than the president? When will black or African american people see white people were also enslaved as share croppers? The real people here that got the bad end of any deal is the Indians. I'm not white Caucasian I am mutt, if I weren't I'm still not white beige purple when I am cold, but white like color white I am not. My first known relative to be in the usa was a viking, the first people to be here and oldest remains are Asian. When will women receive equal pay? Standardized testing be out of schools so schools can teach again, gym classes so kids are not obese, decent lunches for them. Police use of deadly force be focused on all cases not one "race". When will I not have to push one for English? Get my mail on time? Government remember social security isn't an enticement it's self funded and they have borrowed from it and owe money to it. When will ask them to stop sending money to nations that hate us and keep it here to pay down the national debt. End cooperate welfare.
