Peggy's Story

Life How About reunions? Do any of you have info? Hello friends and classmates. It sure has been a lot of years since we were in that orphanage together. I have often wandered how life has treated you. I have had my share of ups and downs but all in all have to say life has been very good. My Husband Ray just died of cancer January the seventh, 2005. We were married 33 years, and loved each other from beginning to end. I have three step children who were in our home as they grew up. They were 12, 10, and 3 years old when we married. I was 21 years old and did not have a clue how to raise children, but God gave me grace and helped me through. We had two more children born in 1973 and '74. It was a circus while they were growing, with toddlers and teens in the house at the same time. They have all been wonderful through their Dad's illness and now are here for me. Such a tremendous blessing! I spent the lion's share of the years of our marriage as a stay at home Mom. Ray was always looking for ways to earn extra income doing things he loved. He was a pilot and towed advertising banners. My part in this was assembling signs, their repair, and the kids and I were his ground crew. It was a great time. Our two youngest children graduated in 1992 and while they were in their final year Ray and I opened a music store called Ray's Guitar and Music Supply. The sign on the store said simply "Ray's Guitar" We had acoustic jam sessions in the store Saturday mornings. My Grandma lived in a basement appartment under our...Expand for more
house (which we built) for ten years. She lived to be 93 years old. She started learning to play a dobro at the age of 83, went to all the jam sessions, and played with Ray's group "The Boyne Mountain Boys". They played in parades, parks, schools, coffee houses, and nursing homes. I was his roady,:^) which I thoroughly enjoyed. We closed the store so to retire and just last year purchased a house in the mountains in Tennessee. Now I am facing the future without my best friend and husband but am very hopeful for a long blessed life with joy for living. I promised Ray I would be alright and am keeping my promise. I took a longevity test online and with the way I eat, exercise, and family history scored the lifespan of 109.5 years, which was very reassuring to my grandchildren of which I am blessed with nine. I have an unmarried son who is seriously looking so I have the possability of more in the future. I enjoy listening to music, play a little on the mountain dulcimer, enjoy my artwork, and plan on getting back into my sewing. I made my daughters' prom dresses. I really enjoy my computer and am thinking of going back to school. I've often thought of colledge.....anyhow definately want to learn more about the computer. I also have to find a job. Really don't know how all this will work out but am trusting God in all things. Would love to hear from old friends and aquaintances from the OS&SO. I know I wasn't there very long but it was an important part of my life and helped shape who I am today. God Bless, Peggy
